The items that cost money and generate no quantity
Containment measured by the metre when the labour sits in the supports. Secondary returns left out. Second fix priced as one continuous visit when it is really four. Electrical packages go wrong in a small number of predictable ways, and each one has a number attached to it.
What you will be able to do
By the end of this course you should be able to:
- measure an electrical installation systematically, in a form someone else can check
- build a defensible rate and explain every component of it
- price the specialist packages you do not self-deliver
- qualify a bid so unpriced risk stays with whoever owns it
What it covers
- Reading an electrical package — drawings, symbols, specifications, and the scope gaps between them
- Take-offs: containment and cable, distribution boards, final circuits and accessories
- A full worked example on a small commercial unit, with real quantities
- Labour norms and building a rate from first principles, material pricing and discount structures
- Preliminaries, overheads, risk and qualifications, and the review before submission

Common questions
Who is it for?
Trainee estimators, quantity surveyors moving into building services, and tradespeople moving into estimating. It assumes you can read a drawing and nothing beyond that.
How long does it take?
There is no fixed length. It is 20 written lessons across 6 sections, and most people work through it over a few weeks alongside the job rather than in one sitting.
Is there a certificate, and does it count towards CPD?
No to both. This is training material, not a qualification, and it is not accredited by any awarding body. If you need a certificate for a professional requirement, this will not provide one.
How long do I keep access?
That depends how you buy. Bought outright, this course is yours permanently — one payment, no renewal, and revisions are included. On a subscription that covers it, you keep access for as long as the subscription runs, and access ends when you cancel.
